Vale Mail is a great community website run by local people in Castle Vale, Birmingham. It’s full of news and ideas that groups we’re working with can use. For example the photos page use slide.com to host photos which are then presented as a slideshow. We’ve been suggesting Flickr but this is a far better way of viewing multiple images from community events.

A short post to signpost you to a site for beginners called wpbeginner.  It’s a bit advert heavy, but there’s a lot of useful info on there.  We’d be interested to know what you think of it, so please leave a comment.

For those of you feeling confident with the basic WordPress.com tools!

If you want to make changes to the theme you’re using – such as changing the background colour or the type of font – you need to start tampering with the CSS (cascading style sheets).  CSS is the instruction for the way a web page looks.

You can’t do this in .com without paying a modest fee ($15).  However you can have a play about for free.  Go to Appearance > Edit CSS in the Dashboard.
