Vale Mail is a great community website run by local people in Castle Vale, Birmingham. It’s full of news and ideas that groups we’re working with can use. For example the photos page use slide.com to host photos which are then presented as a slideshow. We’ve been suggesting Flickr but this is a far better way of viewing multiple images from community events.

wp-th_nailWordPress is a quick and zero-cost method to put together a website.  It is very suitable for the small community group to get a voice on the web.

Although it has a primary purpose as a blogging tool, it is more than adequate to produce static web pages.  In fact, by harnessing the blogging aspect of WordPress, groups can have a web presence that allows supporters, service users or activists to interact with the site.
